Did Ash and Serena Did go on a date?

First off, the title.

That’s probably the biggest reason.

Second there’s this line:

There’s that word again.

During the first part of the episode, they do go shopping together and spend some time together. It’s not a typical “Date” I suppose, but it’s date-like at least.

And here’s where you make your first mistake: You assume that the date “ends” as soon as Ash leaves.

When they actually meet back up later. And the date continues.

The parameters are still the same: They’re alone, together. They’re just on their way back instead of heading out.

Of course, Ash has to leave again.

But he comes back, again.

And things continue until the end of the festival, where he gives her a present.

Now I’m not saying that this is the most romantic night of either of their lives or anything, or that it was a typical date that you’d expect any couple to have. But given how romantically disinclined Ash is usually, I think we can count this one.

At least, I count this one.
